Referencesdue Sept. 16
Locate relevant references for your assigned house. This can include information on the house, the architect/firm, the style, the period, precedent (references to other architects and styles), concept, location, architectural details, etc.

Minimum five references, including:
– journal / magazine articles
– books
– web resources

All references should be cited using the Chicago Manual of Style (see library link).

Post the references under your house’s page on the site OR email the list to Sarah OR bring a printout to studio.

See hints for citation tools.

Block-out drawing panels due Sept. 18
Sketch out the layout for your midterm presentation panels. Include all plans, 2 elevations, 2 sections. Sketched layout can be on newsprint or sketchpad – NOT on the A0 paper.

3 sheets of A0* (see ISO paper size ref.)

Scale 1:50

Consider the following:

  • the alignment of the panels
  • the alignment of the drawings
  • the orientation of the panels
  • the scaled dimensions of each of the drawings
  • give your drawings space to breathe, if you need a fourth panel use four

IMPORTANT: Think of the layout as a storyboard, there should be a reasoned progression/ordering (left to right, up and down, etc.)

* Use A0 dimensions as a guideline. You do not have to cut your paper to the exact size. It can be slightly smaller or larger.
